How could this picture be prettier? If you love horses and lovely scenery and safe dirt roads for trails - this is it!
I'm on Hickory, the black horse on the right, and my niece Helen from the UK is on Twobluesneakers on the left, and we're going out for a ride in the golden light of a May evening. Fabulous!
Ladies riding from the ranch. The gelding on the left was a lovely older Arabian gelding who was boarded with us. He was a sweetheart.
Blue's Mom was Dolly, see treasured memorials. His sire is a gorgeous colorful Overo APHA stallion named "Tigger Two Blue" Our Blue has beautiful bright blue eyes and he loves to please. His grandsire was Doc's Sneaky Pete.
This little girl was amazing! This was literally her first ever ride on a horse and she's eight years old. Her sister was also an excellent new rider.
Diane DiFonzo - our so special horse trainer/instructor - is on "Red" closest to the rail. See "horses for sale" for info on our Red. Diane teaches "natural horsemanship" based on kindness and praise. She's been teaching natural horsemanship for over 45 years!
Caroline - I have had a lifelong love affair with horses starting in the UK where I grew up. Summer trips to my uncle and cousin's farms were a highlight of my childhood. My kind and understanding cousin always made sure there was a super broke horse there for me to ride- just one week a year!. They had Irish hunters and their winters were spent hunting foxes - which they never found, but they had great cross country rides with neighbors and hounds followed by a visit to the local pub!
I lived in a small town in Sussex, by the English Channel. with my parents and two sisters - none of whom was interested in horses in any way. At the age of 18 years I had saved some money by working as a waitress and I bought my first horse, an Irish mare, Katie. I loved her! I rode all over the Sussex Downs - the hills close to my town.
I studied pathology while working at several hospitals and eventually earned the equivalent of a masters degree in Hematology and blood transfusion at London University.
I longed to ride horses in the wide open spaces of the west, in Canada and the US, and I immigrated to Vancouver, Canada. There I did the original transplant program tissue typing research and then married a Canadian doctor. We had a general medical practice in Vancouver with a medical laboratory that I ran, until we decided to move away from the rain to sunny California. I bought my first AQHA horse in Vancouver and he moved with us to Poway. We bought a 2 year old AQHA Doc Bar stallion named "Doc's Sneaky Pete" and as a 4 year old he became AQHA Reserve World Champion Working Cowhorse. We bought 40 acres in Temecula and built a state of the art breeding ranch. I attended courses in equine artificial insemination and embryo transfer at Colorado State University College of Veterinary Medicine in Fort Collins. I loved every minute of my time working with the horses at the ranch - but my husband decided, after about 18 years of marriage and 8 years building and working at the ranch where he constantly encouraged me to excel with the horses, he didn't want a horse ranch in his life any more - so all my beautiful mares, foals, and now 2 stallions had to go. Peppy Chex Doc was born with us and he became an AQHA Superior Cutting Horse. His sweet disposition for a stallion was unequalled and his foals were the same.
My family was broken apart and I was completely devastated and totally heartbroken.
I got into real estate and really enjoyed helping people and I have now been a Real Estate Broker since 1986.
Some time later - Marty and I met in church in Canyon Lake, married and lived in Menifee. He later told me he had always wanted to be around horses! One day I got a call from a lady who had tracked me down through AQHA and she had a daughter of Doc's Sneaky Pete - who was in Temecula and she wanted to sell her - and I was the one to own her!! That was our "Dolly" and we treasured her for about 19 years! I decided to try to find a daughter of Peppy Chex Doc and we ended up with the last daughters of both my stallions. "I consider them a gift to me from God. He gave me back the desires of my heart". Both have since died of old age, Dolly was 35 and Chexy was 33 years old. See them both in "Treasured Memorials" in the website "more" section.
In time Marty and I became partners in both our real estate business as Broker/Owner of Temecula Homes and Land, and we built a smaller acreage but excellent facility as a horse ranch in Sycamore Springs Ranch in Sage. Marty has numerous talented skills in construction and he designed and built our new ranch - I was his assistant. That is where we are today and this is our home and our passion together. We love to share our love of horses - we board horses and specialize in older special needs geriatric retired sweethearts. We have an excellent trainer who practices natural horsemanship. We do an AirBnb Experience with instructor Diane, entitled "Learning to ride horses the right way" that is an intense lesson starting with the very basics of horsemanship and riding our very broke horses in the round pen then graduating to the arena. See the fabulous family reunion AirBnb Experience story. Visitors are always welcome and we can do an AirBnb Experience for your family.
I know horse lovers will agree with me - if the world had more humans as nice and as kind as most of our horses there would be no more crime, no murders, no more hideous wars!!
**Humans could learn an awful lot from the animals we are privileged to care for, love and enjoy, and have in our lives. They have no negative agenda, they just want us to feed them and care for them so they can please us. They love us - no matter what!
We love our horse boarding customers, so come and visit during normal business hours.
